The Role of the Diaspora in African Skills Week: Active Participation, Contribution, and Impacts.
Diasporas in general play an important role in the development of their countries and continents of origin. In addition to family supports, they contribute through investments, knowledge sharing and political participation in economic and social development and political progress. The exchange and transfer of knowledge and skills is a vector for human capital development, which is an essential factor for sustainable development.
The African diaspora is not an exception. AfroSkills organizes the Africa Skills Week, from December 07 to 10, 2022. It is a platform where the diasporas can add their voices to the exchanges on opportunities and solutions to challenges related to education, skills’ development, technological development, and innovation in Africa. It is also a platform where entrepreneurs (from the Diaspora) can promote their businesses, participate in the finals of the African business ideas competition, and discover ideas that can be develop into thriving businesses.
An entire panel is devoted to the diaspora to discuss the opportunities and challenges encountered in investing on the continent and their countries of origin.09:22
